1 Dec 2007 - December Newsletter
Well done everyone for helping the School Council to raise over £150 for Children in Need and over £40 for the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Please remember that your children play out at school 3 or 4 times every day. Unless it is absolutely pouring down there is no change to this during winter and so you must make sure that your child has appropriate clothing at school with them. School sweatshirts, fleece jackets, woolly hats and winter coats are available from the school office. ALL clothing must be named and children themselves are responsible for taking care of gloves etc.
If your child has misplaced anything since September (the lost property box is overflowing) - you are advised to do a quick search there because it has to be cleared next week with any good quality clothing being redistributed to local charity shops.
Parent Governors
You should have received, via your child, a letter saying that we are searching for 2 Parent Governors - please don’t be put off by its ’ official’ appearance - our meetings are not like that and you could be just the person we are looking for! If you would like an informal chat then pop into the office this week. Spare forms are available if yours has gone astray.
After School Club
Do you know that our After School Club can be used on a casual basis? If you inform us in the morning then arrangements can be made for your child to be cared for until 6.00pm. At this time of year when you wish to go shopping alone the daily charge of £5.50 is a bargain! Staff organise many exciting activities and ensuring that the children have fun is their main priority!!
There are places available every school day and if you are thinking of using the service more often then another interesting fact you be not be aware of is that if you are in receipt of tax credits then you are entitled to 60% help towards these costs – call in school for more details.

Christmas lunch – is available to everyone on Thursday 13 Dec. If your child normally brings sandwiches but would like to have Christmas lunch with their friends please let the class teacher know and send £1.60 asap
Parties – dates of the parties were given in last month’s newsletter and individual class letters / notes will be coming home with more details.
Concert performances – separate letters will be coming home regarding the Nursery and Infant concerts and the ticketing arrangements
Panto trip – If you have not already done so would you please send in any remaining money for the panto trip.
Warning from West Yorkshire Police – There have been some video nasties ( containing explicit pornography and violence ) being sent to children’s mobile phones recently.
You are urged as responsible parents to monitor the content of your child’s phone on a regular basis. If you are considering purchasing one for them for Christmas then be advised that those with ‘Bluetooth’ allow messages to be received by all phones in close proximity of the sender and are the ones which require the most monitoring. As a school we do not encourage children to bring mobiles to school at all and we cannot accept any responsibility in case of loss or damage. If it is really necessary then they must be turned off at 8.50am and handed in to the teacher who will return them at 3.30pm
